Jaroslav Pokuta

About

Jaroslav Pokuta is a Czech accordionist born in 1989 in Plzeň. He studied in France under Frédéric Deschamps and won the international competition in Klingenthal four times, as well as taking first place in Dresden and placing at the world competition in Castelfidardo. Since 2019 he has served as the official Czech delegate and juror for the global Trophée Mondiale (CMA) competition, and since 2017 he has run the country's first purely accordion masterclasses in Dobřany.

    Pokuta performed solo and with the ensemble Our Story at the opening of the exhibition Art in the City 2026 in Veselí nad Lužnicí with a program at the intersection of classical music, jazz, and world music.

    Pokuta performed with his duo Czech Duo Bugari (with Martin Chodl) at the 50th annual world festival PIF Castelfidardo in Italy.

  • 2025-06

    Pokuta opened the third annual Festival of Philharmony at Androv Stadium in Olomouc, where he performed alongside the Moravian Philharmonic and leading figures of the Czech music scene.

  • 2024-06

    Pokuta organized the international accordion competition Dobřany 2024, which took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

  • 2019

    Pokuta became the official delegate and jury member of the worldwide accordion competition Trophée Mondiale (CMA) for the Czech Republic and chairman of accordionists of the Plzeň Region.
