Jan Potměšil (1966-2026) was a Czech film and theatre actor who rose to fame in 1987 with the film Bony a klid. He took an active part in the Velvet Revolution, and on one of those trips he suffered a severe spinal injury in a car accident that left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He returned to acting with the Kašpar theatre company, winning both the Thalia Prize and the Alfréd Radok Award.
