Jan Kotěra (1871–1923) was a Czech architect regarded as the founder of modern Czech architecture. A pupil of Otto Wagner in Vienna, he introduced modernist and Secessionist principles to Bohemia and shaped a whole generation of Czech architects. Among his best-known works are the Peterka House on Wenceslas Square in Prague and the Museum of East Bohemia in Hradec Králové.
