Jamel Debbouze (born 18 June 1975 in Paris) is a French-Moroccan actor, comedian, screenwriter and producer who grew up in the Paris suburb of Trappes. He rose to national fame through the Canal+ sitcom H and his role in the beloved film Amélie (2001), then shared the Best Actor prize at Cannes 2006 for Indigènes. As the founder of Jamel Comedy Club, he has been a key force in shaping the French stand-up scene and launching the careers of many younger comedians.
The film "Fallen from the Sky" directed by Mohamed Hamidi, in which Debbouze stars alongside Josiane Balasko, will enter cinemas on August 12, 2026.
The comedy "Marsupilami" (directed by Philippe Lacheau), in which Debbouze reprises the role of Pablito Camarón, became the biggest French box office hit of 2026 with 6.1 million viewers.
