About

Jacques Hotteterre (1674–1763) was a French flautist, composer, and woodwind instrument maker at the court of Louis XIV. In 1707 he published Principes de la flûte traversière, the first treatise devoted to teaching the transverse flute, which became a foundational text for Baroque performance practice. His pupils included the Duke Philippe II of Orléans.
