Ivan Hlas (born 10 May 1954, Prague) is a Czech singer-songwriter and guitarist whose work spans blues, rock, folk and literary ballads. He rose to wide recognition with his soundtrack to the film Šakalí léta (1993), which earned him a Czech Lion award for best music, and his songs - among them Malagelo, Karlín and Na kolena - have become part of the Czech popular canon. He continues to perform actively, most often in the intimate Ivan Hlas Trio alongside guitarist Norbi Kovács and cellist Olin Nejezchleba.

    Czech Television (ČT) broadcast on May 8, 2024 on ČT art a full-length documentary film Ivan Hlas - Pramínek času directed by Alena Činčerová, made for Ivan Hlas's seventieth birthday.

    In April 2024, the spring-summer tour Pramínek času started, during which Ivan Hlas Trio premiered a new 2LP at Malostranská beseda, supplemented with four previously unreleased compositions.

    In October 2023, Ivan Hlas Trio released the album Pramínek času - a live survey album spanning over five decades of work, including the previously unpublished song Hello, Mony!

  • 2024-04

    The publisher Galén released in 2024 a vinyl reissue of the album Pramínek času as a 2LP, supplemented with four new compositions compared to the original CD.

  • 2019

    In 2019, Ivan Hlas successfully overcame laryngeal cancer; after surgery and five months of vocal rest, he returned to full singing.
