Irvine Welsh is a Scottish author best known for his novel Trainspotting (1993), later adapted into a celebrated film. His writing is marked by dark humour, raw realism and characters from the margins of Scottish society. His short story collection The Acid House (1994) served as the basis for both a film and theatrical adaptations.
