Igor Stravinsky (1882–1971) was a Russian composer and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He is best known for his ballets The Firebird, Petrushka, and The Rite of Spring, whose riotous 1913 premiere became legendary. His career spanned several stylistic phases, from Russian nationalism through neoclassicism to twelve-tone technique.
