Hubert Koundé (born 30 December 1970) is a French-Beninese actor and film director. He rose to international prominence playing Hubert in Mathieu Kassovitz's landmark film La Haine (1995), which won the Best Director prize at Cannes and the César for Best Film; Koundé himself received a César nomination for Most Promising Actor. Beyond acting, he has directed short films, co-directed a feature, and written a stage play.
Koundé appeared in the second season of the German crime thriller Asbest (ARD), where he plays the character Tamsir in three episodes.
For the 30th anniversary of La Haine, Institut français acquired the rights to the film for non-commercial screenings worldwide through the IFcinéma platform.
Koundé appeared in an episode of the German series Crooks (Netflix, 2024).
