Los abrazos rotos (2009), released in English as Broken Embraces, is a film by Pedro Almodóvar in which an aging director writes a screenplay that uncomfortably mirrors the lives of those around him. The film features Penélope Cruz and returns to Almodóvar's signature style - vivid colours, strong female characters and a sun-drenched Spanish setting.
