About

HILT black light theatre is a Prague-based black light theatre ensemble founded in 2006-2007 by dancer-choreographer Theodor Hoidekr together with actress Štěpánka Pencová. It is the only independent company of this genre in Prague with its own permanent stage, set in an underground space on Řetězová street with foundations dating back to the 15th century. The group created the wordless multimedia production Images of Love, which won two awards at India's Bharat Rang Mahotsav festival in February 2025, and had earlier been honoured at the 2018 Theatre Olympics in India.

What's new

  • 2026-05

    The ensemble resumed its regular performance program from May 1, 2026, after all performances through the end of April 2026 were cancelled.

  • 2025-08

    HILT launched its Czech tour with the production Images of Love, with the first stop moved for technical reasons from Čelákovic to Kladno, where the venue sold out.

  • 2025-02

    The production Images of Love received two awards at the Indian festival Bharat Rang Mahotsav following performances at Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi and at Rajasthan International Centre.

  • 2024-11

    The ensemble was selected as one of only ten foreign ensembles (out of 75 total) to represent at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2025 festival in India.

  • 2024-10

    The production Images of Love premiered in Prague on October 11, 2024.
