Gorillaz are a British virtual band conceived in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. Their four animated members - 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs - front a revolving cast of real musicians and collaborators, producing a genre-defying blend of alternative rock, hip-hop and electronica. The band holds the Guinness World Record as the most successful virtual band and has won a Grammy as well as a BRIT Award.
Gorillaz released their ninth studio album The Mountain on March 20, 2026 on their own label KONG - the first major project since Cracker Island (2023).
The Mountain Tour started in March 2026 in Bradford and Manchester; the tour includes arenas across Britain, Ireland, Europe, America and in 2027 also in India.
Gorillaz performed their very first headliner stadium concert on June 20, 2026 - at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
In September 2025, the band announced the album The Mountain and released the first single The Happy Dictator in collaboration with the band Sparks.
Gorillaz' debut album (2001) set a Spotify record in 2025 with 333 million streams - 46% more than the previous year.
