Golden Apes are a Berlin band working across post-punk, darkwave and gothic rock, active since 1998. The group is built around vocalist and synth player Peer Lebrecht and bassist Christian Lebrecht - the name is drawn from Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Over more than two decades they have released twelve studio albums, played Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Castle Party, and toured Europe, the US, Canada and Russia.
Golden Apes released their twelfth studio album "The Sun Came Up Tremendously" on September 18, 2026 on the French label Icy Cold Records in limited vinyl, digiCD and digital formats.
A single "Resistance" was released for the album with a music video shot and directed by frontman Peer Lebrecht.
The band started a German tour in support of the album: on October 9 they play at Moritzbastei in Leipzig, on November 13 at Rosenkeller in Jena and on November 20 at Privatclub in Berlin.
The band performed on August 22, 2026 at the Stella Nomine festival in Torgau.
In January 2024, Golden Apes released their eleventh album "Our Ashes at the End of the Day" on the Icy Cold Records label - the first part of a planned trilogy.
