About

Giordano Bruno (1548–1600) was an Italian philosopher, astronomer and Dominican friar who championed the heliocentric model of the universe and proposed that stars are distant suns surrounded by their own planets. His ideas about an infinite cosmos were far ahead of his time; he was condemned by the Inquisition and burned at the stake in Rome.
