Gints Zilbalodis (born 13 April 1994 in Riga) is a Latvian filmmaker, animator and composer whose minimalist films explore survival, isolation and the power of unlikely alliances. He made his feature debut with Away (2019), which he created entirely solo, and followed it with Flow (2024) - a dialogue-free animated adventure about a cat caught in a great flood - which became a global phenomenon. Flow earned him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and two Annie Awards, making him and producer Matīss Kaža the first Latvians ever to win an Oscar.
