Giancarlo Giuseppe Alessandro Esposito (born April 26, 1958 in Copenhagen) is an American actor, director and producer whose career spans more than five decades. He became a household name through his portrayal of Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad (2009-2011) and Better Call Saul (2017-2022), a role that earned him two Critics' Choice Television Awards and three Primetime Emmy nominations. In recent years he has added Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian and the villain Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World (2025) to his roster, while also leading the Netflix Shondaland whodunnit The Residence (2025).
Esposito presented plans at the Red Sea International Film Festival for an adaptation of his own graphic novel The Venetian and revealed that he is developing a project with Guy Busick inspired by Stephen King.
