Gheorghe Zamfir is a Romanian musician born in 1941, widely regarded as one of the world's foremost virtuosos of the pan flute (nai). He played a major role in bringing the instrument to international audiences and is known for his work on the soundtrack to The Lonely Shepherd and numerous film scores.
