Garou, born Pierre Garand on 26 June 1972 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, is a Canadian singer and actor who rose to international fame as Quasimodo in the musical Notre-Dame de Paris - the single "Belle" topped the French charts for a record 18 weeks. His gravelly baritone carried him through a string of solo hits including "Seul", the Céline Dion duet "Sous le vent", and "La Rivière de notre enfance", with total album sales exceeding five million copies. In April 2025 he released Un meilleur lendemain, the first album for which he wrote all the lyrics and music himself.
Garou released the album Un meilleur lendemain on April 4, 2025 - his very first album whose lyrics and music he wrote entirely by himself, after 12 years without original work.
Garou served as director of the academy in the Quebec version of the show Star Académie 2025 on TVA.
In December 2024, Garou performed at a gala concert for the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.
Garou launched a world tour for the album Un meilleur lendemain; in December 2025 he will perform in Brossard (Canada) and in January 2026 he will hold a series of concerts at the Bobino in Paris.
In February 2026, Garou continues his European tour with stops in Strasbourg, Charleroi, Liège, and Brussels.
