🎬 Gabriele D'Annunzio

About

Gabriele D'Annunzio was an Italian writer, poet and politician, one of the leading figures of Italian decadentism. In 1919 he seized the city of Fiume (today's Rijeka) with a band of armed followers and proclaimed a short-lived state there, a stunt that foreshadowed elements of later fascism. The episode turned him into a symbol of Italian irredentism.
