Frederic Fenimore Forrest Jr. (December 23, 1936 - June 23, 2023) was an American character actor from Waxahachie, Texas, closely associated with the New Hollywood movement. He is best remembered for four films with director Francis Ford Coppola - The Conversation (1974), Apocalypse Now (1979), One from the Heart (1982) and Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988). His role as Huston Dyer opposite Bette Midler in the musical drama The Rose (1979) earned him both an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and the National Society of Film Critics named him Best Supporting Actor for two films in the same year.
Frederic Forrest died on June 23, 2023 in his home in Santa Monica, California at the age of 86 after a long illness.

Forrest's death was confirmed by his sister Ginger Jackson.
