František Kovářík (1886-1984) was a Czech actor who spent most of his career at the Vinohrady Theatre in Prague. He specialised in warm, down-to-earth characters drawn from Czech folk tradition, and became widely known for playing professor Hrbolek in the comedy Marečku, podejte mi pero! (1976) and the endearing grandfather in Na samotě u lesa (1976). He died on his 98th birthday.
