Felix Mendelssohn (1809–1847) was a German composer and conductor of the early Romantic era. He is known for works such as his Violin Concerto in E minor and the overture A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as a rich body of chamber and piano music. He was also instrumental in reviving interest in J. S. Bach.
