Exhorder are an American thrash/groove metal band from New Orleans, active since 1985. Their 1990 debut Slaughter in the Vatican is widely credited as a direct blueprint for the groove-metal sound that Pantera brought to mainstream audiences - Phil Anselmo was a well-known fan before joining Pantera. After a lengthy hiatus, the band returned with Mourn the Southern Skies (2019) and followed it with their fourth album Defectum Omnium, released in March 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The band confirmed that after completing a two-year tour in support of the album Defectum Omnium, it began work on its fifth studio album.
Kyle Thomas admitted that Exhorder are currently not signed with any record label and are looking for new publishing partnership.
In March 2026, drummer Sasha Horn left the band; Corey Pierce (God Forbid) took over as his replacement for the tour, with a permanent successor not yet announced.
In summer 2025, Exhorder completed a European tour that included performances at the Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault, and Motocultor festivals.
In March 2024, the fourth album Defectum Omnium (Nuclear Blast) was released, on which guitarist Pat O'Brien made his debut as a band member, previously known from Cannibal Corpse.
