Euripides was an ancient Greek playwright of the 5th century BC and one of the three great tragedians of classical antiquity. Of his more than ninety plays, eighteen survive, including Medea, Electra, and The Bacchae. His work is noted for its psychological depth and questioning treatment of traditional myths.
