Ethan Coen (born 1957) is an American filmmaker who, alongside his brother Joel, made 18 feature films and won four Academy Awards - for Best Original Screenplay for Fargo and for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay for No Country for Old Men. The brothers also took the Palme d'Or at Cannes for Barton Fink (1991). Since the early 2020s Ethan has been directing solo: his first solo feature Drive-Away Dolls came out in 2024, and in 2025 he premiered Honey Don't! at Cannes, a noir comedy co-written with his wife Tricia Cooke and the second entry in a planned queer B-movie trilogy.
