He is best known for his collaborations with Sergio Leone on the spaghetti westerns of the 1960s, though his output ranged from romantic drama to experimental concert music. Over a career spanning more than six decades he composed over 500 film and television scores, winning two Academy Awards and four Grammy Awards.
The tribute concert tour 'The Music of Ennio Morricone' took place in January 2026 in Finland - in Jyväskylä, Pori, Turku and other cities.
In London in 2026, the tribute concert 'Discovering Morricone' is held by the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Giacomo Lopriena at Cadogan Hall.
The tribute concert by Ensemble Symphony Orchestra at the Milanese Teatro dal Verme in January 2025 recalled Morricone's most famous soundtracks.
The documentary film 'Ennio: The Maestro' directed by Giuseppe Tornatore had its world premiere at the 78th International Film Festival in Venice and in 2022 won the Nastro d'Argento award for best documentary film.
