About

Emil Zátopek was a Czech long-distance runner nicknamed "the Locomotive". At the 1952 Helsinki Olympics he won gold medals in the 5,000 m, 10,000 m, and marathon — a feat never repeated. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century.
