Ellen Dorrit Petersen (born 4 December 1975 in Tau, Norway) is a Norwegian actress known primarily for her work in arthouse and festival cinema. She gained international recognition with the lead role in Eskil Vogt's Blind (2014) and a supporting part in Joachim Trier's Thelma (2017). In 2025 she won the Amanda Award for Best Supporting Actor for her role in Armand (2024), which took the Caméra d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
The film Film Fjord (2026) directed by Cristian Mungiu, in which Petersen plays the role of Gundy, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
At the 41st Amanda Awards ceremony in Haugesund (August 16, 2025), Petersen won the award for Best Supporting Actress for the film Armand (2024).
The film Armand (2024) with Petersen in one of the leading roles entered American distribution (IFC Films) on February 7, 2025.
The film Armand had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Golden Camera for Best Debut.
The Norwegian Film Institute selected Armand as Norway's Oscar candidate in the Best International Feature Film category; the film made the December shortlist.
