Elizabeth Marvel (born November 27, 1969, in Los Angeles) is an American actress and Juilliard graduate who moves with equal authority between stage and screen. She has appeared in nine Broadway productions and won four Obie Awards for her off-Broadway work, including the title role in Ivo van Hove's Hedda Gabler. Television audiences know her as solicitor general Heather Dunbar in House of Cards, President Elizabeth Keane in Homeland, and from the Netflix miniseries Unbelievable; on film she has worked with Spielberg, the Coens, and Noah Baumbach.
Marvel signed a contract with talent agency Verve; at the same time, she appeared in Spielberg's drama Disclosure Day, which has just entered cinemas.
Marvel joined the cast of the fourth season of HBO's historical series The Gilded Age as a guest star.
Marvel played the lead role in the world premiere of Tim Blake Nelson's off-Broadway play And Then We Were No More at La MaMa theater in New York.
