Edwin Neal is an American actor best known for playing the hitchhiker in Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). The low-budget horror film became a cult classic and helped define the slasher genre. Neal was a Vietnam veteran who landed the role shortly after returning from the war.
