Édouard Schuré (1841–1929) was a French writer, philosopher and esotericist. He is best known for his book Les Grands Initiés (The Great Initiates, 1889), which traces the spiritual history of humanity through figures such as Orpheus, Pythagoras, Plato and Jesus. The work became one of the central texts of European esoteric thought at the turn of the 20th century.
