Dmitry Spirin is a Russian punk rock musician, frontman of the Moscow band Tarakany! since the mid-1990s - a group formed in 1991 that released 14 studio albums and toured Russia, Europe and Japan. After Tarakany! disbanded in spring 2022, partly due to his outspoken anti-war stance, Spirin emigrated to Buenos Aires and released his debut solo album Goryachaya Voyna (Hot War) in November 2024. In June 2024 Russian authorities added him to the foreign agents register, and in February 2026 criminal proceedings were opened against him.
The Russian Investigative Committee initiated criminal prosecution of Spirin in February 2026 for alleged failure to fulfill foreign agent obligations - Spirin lives abroad and refuses the criminal charges.
The Moscow Prosecutor's Office initiated criminal prosecution of Spirin in December 2025 for failing to publish the foreign agent designation in his messenger.
In June 2025, Spirin launched his first solo electric tour across Europe with a band; concerts in Prague, Barcelona, Vilnius, Belgrade and other cities were sold out.
In November 2024, Spirin released his first solo album Горячая война (Goryachaya Voyna) in Buenos Aires - his first solo album in over 30 years of career.
The Russian Ministry of Justice registered Spirin in the foreign agents registry in June 2024, citing that he spread false information about the Russian army.
