Denholm Elliott (1922-1992) was a British character actor whose nearly five-decade career spanned stage, screen and television. Internationally best known as Marcus Brody in the Indiana Jones films, he earned three consecutive BAFTA Awards for Best Supporting Actor in the 1980s - for Trading Places, A Private Function and Defence of the Realm - as well as an Oscar nomination for A Room with a View. He was appointed CBE in 1988.
