David Michael Bautista Jr. (born January 18, 1969) is an American actor and retired professional wrestler. During his WWE career between 2002 and 2019 he was a six-time world champion and one of the most popular stars of his generation. After leaving the ring he built a film career, best known as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside roles in Blade Runner 2049, Dune and Knives Out.
Bautista was officially cast in the role of Kratos in the God of War series for Amazon Prime Video after the original actor Ryan Hurst suffered a biceps injury.
Shortly after being cast, he shared on social media the progress of his physical transformation for the role of Kratos after weeks of strength training.
At San Diego Comic-Con, he appeared noticeably slimmer after losing approximately 34 kg, which drew the attention of fans and media.
Besides the God of War series, he currently has other projects in development, including the films Alpha Gang, animated Ally, and a Highlander remake.
