Daryl Hannah (born December 3, 1960, Chicago) is an American actress, director, and environmental activist with over a hundred film and television credits spanning more than four decades. Global audiences know her as the replicant Pris in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (1982) and as the mermaid Madison in Splash (1984). Her role as one-eyed assassin Elle Driver in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill earned her a Saturn Award, and she later appeared as the enigmatic Angelica Turing in the Netflix series Sense8 (2015-2018). Alongside acting, she has built a parallel career as a documentary filmmaker, directing several films about her husband, musician Neil Young.
Hannah in op-edu for The New York Times (March 6, 2026) publicly rejected her portrait in the FX series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, where she is played by Dree Hemingway, and called the portrayal false and misogynistic.
At the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony, Hannah appeared on stage as the host for the Best Film Editing category and shouted the pro-Ukrainian slogan "Slava Ukraini!" as she entered the stage.
The documentary film Coastal, which Hannah directed and filmed, had a one-time theatrical premiere on April 17, 2025; the film captures Neil Young's solo tour along the American coast.
The documentary film Coastal received 80% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hannah married musician Neil Young in 2018; since then they have lived primarily in Canada.
