Darkest Hour are an American heavy metal band from Washington D.C., active since 1995. Their sound fuses melodic death metal in the Scandinavian tradition - At the Gates and In Flames are clear touchstones - with thrash aggression and hardcore punk attitude. Regarded as pioneers of the New Wave of American Metal, they have released eleven studio albums over three decades. Their critically acclaimed records Undoing Ruin (2005) and Deliver Us (2007) placed them on the Billboard 200.
