Sir Daniel Day-Lewis (born 29 April 1957 in London) is an English and Irish actor, uniquely associated with method acting taken to its furthest extremes. He is the only man ever to win three Academy Awards for Best Actor - for My Left Foot (1989), There Will Be Blood (2007) and Lincoln (2012). After announcing his retirement in 2017, he returned to the screen in 2025 with Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son and director Ronan Day-Lewis.
