Daniel Brühl (born 1978, Barcelona) is a German-Spanish actor, director and producer who works across European arthouse cinema and major Hollywood productions. His international breakthrough came with Good Bye, Lenin! (2003), which earned him the European Film Award for Best Actor. Beyond acting, he directed his debut feature Next Door (2021, Berlinale premiere) and co-produced the Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front (2022).
Brühl signed a contract with agencies CAA and United Agents; in the near future he will have a leading role in the film The Entertainment System Is Down directed by Ruben Östlund alongside Kirsten Dunst and Keanu Reeves.
Brühl will begin filming in September 2026 his second feature film as a director - the film Break about German tennis champion Gottfried von Cramm.
Brühl will join the production of the series Legacy of Spies for BBC and MGM+, where he will play East German spy Jens Fielder alongside Charlie Hunnam and Matthew Macfadyen.
Netflix confirmed the casting of Brühl in the miniseries The Boys From Brazil, an adaptation of Ira Levin's novel written by Peter Morgan; alongside Brühl are Jeremy Strong and Gillian Anderson.
Brühl received the presidential award at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, where he presented his directorial debut Nebenan.
