Damien Chazelle is an American film director and screenwriter best known for Whiplash (2014), a psychological drama about a jazz drummer pushed to his limits by a tyrannical instructor. His follow-up La La Land (2016) won him the Academy Award for Best Director, making him the youngest person ever to receive that honour.
