Courtney Barnett (born 1987, Sydney) is an Australian indie-rock singer, guitarist and songwriter who built her reputation on deadpan wit and sharply observed lyrics about ordinary life. Her debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit (2015) won four ARIA Awards and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. In 2026 she released her fourth studio album, Creature of Habit, written after relocating from Melbourne to Los Angeles and closing her own label, Milk! Records.
