Colin James Farrell (born 31 May 1976 in Dublin) is an Irish actor who established himself in the early 2000s across both blockbusters and arthouse cinema. His breakthrough came with Spielberg's Minority Report (2002); he has since worked with directors including Martin McDonagh, Yorgos Lanthimos and Sofia Coppola. He earned an Oscar nomination for The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) and holds three Golden Globes, the most recent in 2025 for his lead role in the HBO series The Penguin.
Farrell joined the cast of the historical thriller Bad Bridgets for Netflix, whose filming began in Ireland in July 2026.
Farrell confirmed that he is leaving for London to film The Batman Part II, where he will appear as the Penguin in two scenes.
The film Ballad of a Small Player directed by Edward Berger was released on Netflix, in which Farrell plays a gambler hiding in Macau.
Farrell was nominated for an Emmy for his role as the Penguin in the series The Penguin, but the award was won by Stephen Graham.
Farrell won his third Golden Globe for his role as Oswald Cobblepot in the series The Penguin (HBO).
