Christine Baranski (born May 2, 1952, in Buffalo, New York) is an American actress of Polish descent, trained at the Juilliard School. She won two Tony Awards on Broadway - for The Real Thing (1984) and Rumors (1989) - and was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2018. Television audiences know her best as Diane Lockhart in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory, and as the imperious Agnes van Rhijn in HBO's period drama The Gilded Age (2022-present). Her career spans more than 15 Emmy nominations and three SAG Awards.
