Christian Marclay (born 1955, San Rafael, California) is a Swiss-American visual artist and composer who has spent over four decades bridging sound, image and time through performance, video, collage and sculpture. He is widely credited with pioneering turntablism - using vinyl records and turntables as instruments - and is best known internationally for The Clock (2010), a 24-hour film montage synchronized to real time that won the Golden Lion at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011. His work is held in the collections of MoMA, Centre Pompidou, Tate and many other major institutions.
Marclay will have a solo exhibition at the White Cube gallery in Paris (September 9 - October 10, 2026), where he will present new monotypes and collages featuring vinyl record cover motifs.
From July 26, 2026, Marclay is featured in an exhibition at LACMA in Los Angeles.
Hall Art Foundation in Vermont presents the exhibition Christian Marclay: Made To Be Destroyed (May 9 - November 29, 2026), focused on film footage of the destruction of artworks.
Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco presented new monotypes, collages, and the video Bildspiel (2015) in an exhibition running from January 15 to March 7, 2026.
The Clock was first shown in Berlin - at the Neue Nationalgalerie from November 29, 2025 to January 25, 2026.
