Chameleons are a post-punk band from Middleton, Greater Manchester, formed in 1981 by vocalist and bassist Mark Burgess alongside guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding. Their three 1980s albums - Script of the Bridge (1983), What Does Anything Mean? Basically (1985) and Strange Times (1986) - shaped indie rock, shoegaze and Britpop, influencing acts from Oasis and Interpol to Editors. After disbanding in 1987 and a brief reunion in 2000-2003, the band returned in 2021 and released their fifth studio album Arctic Moon in September 2025, their first full-length in 24 years.
Chameleons launched an extensive European tour in 2026, which includes stops in France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
