About

The Carnival of the Animals is a humorous musical suite by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed in 1886. It is divided into fourteen movements, each depicting a different animal. The most famous movement is The Swan, written for cello and piano. Saint-Saëns withheld most of the suite from public performance during his lifetime to protect his serious reputation.
