Carl Fabritius

About

Carel Fabritius was a Dutch Golden Age painter, a pupil of Rembrandt and the probable teacher of Jan Vermeer. He is regarded as a key figure of the Delft school of painting. He died in the Delft Thunderclap explosion of 1654, leaving only a small number of surviving works, of which The Goldfinch is the most celebrated.
