Bohemian Life (1992) is a film by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, based on Henri Murger's novel La Bohème, the same source that inspired Puccini's opera. Shot in black and white, it follows three friends - a painter, a writer and a composer - drifting through Paris, scraping by in poverty and chasing love. The film screened at numerous international festivals to wide critical acclaim.
