Blasphemy are a Canadian black/death metal band from Vancouver, active since the late 1980s and widely credited as one of the founding forces behind the war metal subgenre. Their debut Fallen Angel of Doom (1990) and follow-up Gods of War (1993) set the template for raw, chaotic extreme metal and remain cult touchstones of the underground. The band reformed for live performances in 1999 and has continued to play select shows worldwide, maintaining a fiercely devoted following despite releasing only two studio albums.
