Bill Frisell Trio (USA)
Legendary American jazz guitarist Bill Frisell takes the stage with his trio at Prague's Jazz Dock.
Bill Frisell (born 1951) is an American guitarist and composer whose music moves fluidly between jazz, folk, country, and experimental territory, forming a sound that is instantly his own. He rose to prominence in the 1980s through ECM Records and a long partnership with drummer Paul Motian, and has since released over 85 albums as a leader while appearing on more than 300 recordings as a sideman. His 2004 album Unspeakable won a Grammy Award; he has received six nominations in total.
Frisell released the album In My Dreams (Blue Note), his fifth album for this label, as part of celebrating his 75th birthday - the recording combines his trio with a quartet of string collaborators.
With the In My Dreams project, Frisell performed a series of concerts in the USA, where the sextet performed live in this lineup for the first time.
The album Orchestras (Live) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category at the 67th Grammy Awards ceremony.
Frisell was also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category for the album Owl Song, on which he collaborated with trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire.
Frisell has several concerts planned in the USA and will perform in Frankfurt at HR Sendesaal in February 2027.
