Bette Midler (born December 1, 1945, in Honolulu) is an American singer, actress, and comedian whose career spans more than five decades. She broke through with her 1972 debut album The Divine Miss M and has since sold over 30 million records worldwide, earning four Grammy Awards, two Oscar nominations, three Emmy Awards, and a special Tony Award. On screen she is known for The Rose, Beaches, The First Wives Club, and the Hocus Pocus franchise.
